Adam is the Chief Executive Officer of AFME. Joining in February 2020 he is responsible for providing vision and shaping the strategy for the Association going forward and reporting to the Board.

Before joining AFME, Adam was the Executive Director of the European Banking Authority (EBA) from April 2011 until the end of January 2020 where he managed the organisation’s daily operations and led the implementation of its regulatory work programme. Prior to joining the EBA, he acted as the Executive Chairman of the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority between 2009 to 2010 where he spearheaded the Authority’s response to the financial crisis and helped implement policy such as a new code of conduct for banks. His other previous positions include CEO for Allianz Bank from 2006 until 2009 and acting as the co-CEO of CIB Bank between 2002 and 2005. Between 1997 and 2001, he was Managing Director and Member of the Board at the National Bank of Hungary. Adam started his career as an Assistant Professor at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences (subsequently renamed Corvinus University of Budapest). He was also a Consultant to various financial institutions in Budapest and London, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) between 1991-1997.

Andrea is the head of the MidCap Corporate Finance Department in Intesa Sanpaolo. This includes an end-to-end investment banking team, with dedicated coverage and execution capabilities, bringing IB solutions to Italian MidCap corporates.

Andrea has over 25 years experience in banking, starting in M&A at Schroders and Citi in 1993 in London. Back in Milan in 2003, Andrea worked for Credit Agricole, becoming head of Italian M&A, before joining IMI-Intesa Sanpaolo in 2006.

In 2015 Intesa Sanpaolo decided to start a dedicated unit to cover midcaps from an investment banking perspective, recognizing the particularity of service needed by these clients. Today the unit has a privileged viewpoint on entrepreneurs, their companies, a key component and backbone of the Italian GDP.

Andrea had exposure to the Venture Capital eco system, as CEO of InCube, a start up accelerator of the Intesa Sanpaolo group. He was part of the CIB Innovation Committee and he attended the innovation executive program of Singularity University in Palo Alto, CA.

He has a cum-laude BA in Economics from LUISS University.

Andrej Šircelj graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and completed his master’s degree at the Faculty of Law in Maribor.

In 2005, he was appointed State Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister with a mandate at the Ministry of Finance. In charge of key government projects in the areas of banking, finance, and infrastructure, he cooperated with many international institutions, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the OECD. He was also in charge of projects in the areas of finance and taxes during the Slovenia's Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2008. Between 2008 and 2009, he was a member of the Board of Directors at the European Investment Bank.

In 2011, he was elected as member to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, where he chaired the Committee on Finance and Monetary Policy. He was re-elected as member to the National Assembly in the 2014 and 2018 elections.

As Head of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the CEE, Björn is responsible for driving the success of BNY Mellon in the region and leading the delivery of the company’s strategy in these markets.

Before joining BNY Mellon in 2020, he spent 16 years at Credit Suisse in London and Frankfurt, lastly serving in Country Management as Co-Speaker of the bank entity Credit Suisse (Deutschland) AG and Deputy Chairman of Credit Suisse’s Commercial Real Estate fund subsidiary in Germany. From 1998 to 2004 Björn worked at J.P. Morgan in London and New York in Global Markets. He studied Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and at Loughborough University. In 2003 he obtained the TRIUM Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Stern School of Business of New York University (NYU Stern), London School of Economics (LSE) in London and Haute Ecole Commerciale (HEC) in Paris.

Björn is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

David is Chairman and Co-Founder of OMFIF. Before starting at OMFIF in late 2009, he worked for City merchant bank Robert Fleming, corporate finance boutique Hawkpoint, German management consultancy Droege and London investment firm London & Oxford. Marsh took over the chairmanship from John Plender on 1 January 2018 having been Managing Director since 2014. He moved to a non-executive role following John Orchard’s appointment as Chief Executive effective 1 January 2020.

David is a Board Member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and visiting Professor at Sheffield University and King’s College London. He is former co-founder, chairman and deputy chairman of the German-British Forum. He was made Commander of the British Empire in 2000 and was awarded the German Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) in 2003.

He started his career at Reuters in 1973 having graduated with a BA in chemistry from The Queen’s College Oxford. Between 1978 and 1995 he worked for the Financial Times in France and Germany, latterly as European Editor in London. Marsh has written six books: Six Days in in September – Black Wednesday, Brexit and the Making of Europe (2017, with William Keegan and Richard Roberts); Europe’s Deadlock: How the Crisis Could Be Solved – And Why It Won’t Happen (2013); The Euro – The Politics of the New Global Currency (2009 – re-released in 2011 as The Battle for the New Global Currency); Germany and Europe – The Crisis of Unity (1994); The Bundesbank – The Bank that Rules Europe (1992); and Germany – Rich, Bothered and Divided (1989 – re-released in 1990 as The New Germany.)

Denis has been Deputy Governor of the Banque de France since 1 August 2017. He has also been appointed by the Governor to represent him as Chairman of the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority – ACPR). He is a member of the college of the French Financial Markets Authority - AMF and of the Supervisory Board for the European Central Bank’s Single Supervisory Mechanism.

Denis has also been appointed Chair of the Committee on Controlling (COMCO) of the ECB since 9 January 2018 and Chair of the Analytical Group on Vulnerabilities (AGV) of the FSB since March 2019.

Born in 1962, he joined Banque de France in 1986 after graduating from l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. He subsequently received a Master degree in Business Administration from INSEAD. His career path at the Banque de France led him to hold management positions in the Financial Markets, Payments and Market Infrastructures and Economics and International Relations departments. He was seconded to the New York Fed (1997-1998) and served at the BIS as secretary of the G10 Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (2007-2008). He was a member of European and international committees dealing with monetary policy and financial stability issues and prudential regulation of banks (Euro Retail Payments Board, Committee on the Global Financial System, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision – co-chair of the Macroprudential Supervision Committee).

Ellie is Managing Director of the Economic and Monetary Policy Institute at OMFIF. She is responsible for researching trends, developing relationships and hosting meetings on monetary policy, economic and fiscal developments and regulatory standards across the globe, including discussions on political economy.

Prior to joining OMFIF she worked at Chatham House, designing and managing a busy events calendar covering all aspects of foreign affairs. Before this she worked in the UK Parliament as a researcher for a shadow minister covering justice policy and has worked for a non-governmental organisation in Botswana.

She has a BSc in Politics from the University of Bristol.

Frank started at Deutsche Bank Frankfurt in 1988 his Traineeship in Dealing and Backoffice before he joined UT-America and Hutzler Brokerage as Junior Financial Consultant. From 1989 until 1993 he build up his experiences at Suedwest-LB and Bayerische Vereinsbank in Frankfurt as Trader and Market Maker for German Government Bonds and as Senior Sales Fixed Income which he continued at Bayerische Landesbank further two years.

Frank consequently followed up his career with working in several senior sales positions in Global Market Divisions at Dresdner Bank (e.g. as Global Head Central Bank Sales) from 1993 until 2000 before he became Managing Director and Global Head Central Bank Sales at Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt. After being a Member of the Board of Managing Directors at Deutsche Asset Management Intl. until 2004 he joined DZ BANK AG as Global Head of Capital Markets International Clients, heading Fixed Income International Sales and Debt Capital Markets. In 2013 he became Global Head of Senior Executive Banking. Mr. Scheidig is Member of the Board British Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V. (BCCG) and was announced to be Chairman of the BCCG Rhein Main Region in 2017.

Furthermore he is Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of OMFIF (The Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum).

Gerhard has been working for Metzler since 2001. In 2015, he became personally liable partner of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. KGaA. In 2012, Gerhard was appointed member of the Executive Board of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. Holding AG. Since May 2002, he has been a member of the Partners’ Committee B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. Holding AG and responsible for Asset Management and heads Metzler’s US Real Estate business.

In addition, Gerhard is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Metzler Asset Management GmbH and of Metzler Pensionsfonds AG as well as member of the Supervisory Board of Nomura Asset Management (Deutschland) KAG and DWS Investment GmbH. Furthermore, Gerhard is member of the Board of Directors of the following group companies: Metzler Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. in Tokyo/Japan, Metzler Realty Advisors in Seattle/USA and Metzler/Payden, LLC in Los Angeles/USA, a 50:50 joint venture with the US investment company Payden & Rygel. Before his appointment to CICM in 1991, he completed an investment banking trainee program at Commerzbank AG and was employed in various positions there after 1987.

Gerhard holds a master’s degree (German Betriebswirt FH) in business administration from the college of Landshut in Germany and studied East Asian economics at the University of Duisburg in Germany from 1987 to 1989.

Guy is a Managing Director and Head of Global Credit Markets, Public Finance and Credit Portfolio Loan Group, based in London.

Guy joined J.P. Morgan in 1994 after graduating in Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He started his career in bond options before moving on to other products in the Emerging and Credit Markets. Guy has held a number of senior roles across our Markets business, including: head of European Credit and co-head of Spread Markets.

Guy is the Markets lead for the firm’s Brexit strategy. He also sits on the board of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) and the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA).

In December 2020, Guy became Deputy Head of the CIB Division and Global Head of Financial Institutions Group, where he remains a member of the CIB ExCo.

Guy has 34 years of experience in Investment Banking, starting in 1986, when he began working for JP Morgan in New York and Paris as an options trader. From 1988 to 1992 Guy worked for Batif Banque as a rates trader. Then, for ten years, Guy held various positions, including Global Head of Derivatives and Fixed Income Division, at Crédit Lyonnais. In 2003, he started at Crédit Agricole Group, first as Head of Interest Rates, Currencies and Commodities and later as Global Head of Fixed Income.

In 2011, Guy joined UniCredit and since then has gone from Deputy Head of Markets for the risk cluster (trading activities) as well as for directly overseeing FX, Commodities, CEE Trading, CVA and Quants, additionally he held the position as Head of Markets London. In August 2016 Guy became Global Head of Markets and then in March 2019 jointly held the role of Deputy Head of CIB.

Guy holds a Master degree in Science from École Polytechnique in Paris.

During his 12-year tenure at Deutsche Bank, Hubertus held the positions of Analyst, Head of Communications and Chief Economist for Asia and Global Head of Marketing for Wealth Management at offices in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Singapore.

He is the Founder of the NewMark Group and CEO of NewMark Finanzkommunikation GmbH, established in 1997 and specialized in market research, business consulting and financial communication. In 2008, Hubertus was appointed Managing Director of Frankfurt Main Finance, the Financial Centre initiative for Frankfurt and the leading Financial Centre in Germany and the Euro Zone. In 2018, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC), which was created to facilitate cooperation and exchange of best practices among international financial centres and to foster greater exchange with international public authorities. Hubertus regularly speaks at international financial conferences on Brexit, FinTechs and Financial Centre Development; Euro Clearing and Green Finance.

Hubertus is a Special Fellow of the Financial Think Tank of AFCA and publishes regularly in this capacity. He is a member of Rotary Club and has a Diploma in Economics from the University Mainz, Germany. Hubertus is an occasional lecturer at Universities and Business Schools.

Ignazio is research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and Senior Policy Fellow at SAFE (Sustainable Architecture for Finance in Europe center at Goethe Universität in Frankfurt).

He holds a first degree from Bocconi and a PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. In his career he was director of monetary and financial research at the Banca d’Italia; deputy director general research at the ECB; Director of international financial affairs at Italy’s ministry of finance; director general for financial stability and macroprudential policy at the ECB; coordinator of ECB’s preparation for the Single Supervisory Mechanism, founding member of the ECB Supervisory Board.

A former Fellow of Bruegel, he is the author of books and articles published in major academic refereed journals.

Jacqueline is Head of Advocacy, responsible for the formulation and delivery of AFME’s advocacy across the association’s external stakeholders in the EU27 and UK. Jacqueline joined AFME in the Prudential Regulation Division in 2014 and was in charge of coordinating AFME’s policy work on the CRD5/CRR2. In 2017, Jacqueline relocated from London to Frankfurt to establish the Association’s Frankfurt Office. She was also responsible for developing AFME’s relationships with key supervisory authorities, with a particular focus on the ECB SSM and running AFME’s SSM Supervisory Committee. Prior to joining AFME, Jacqueline was Head of Asset Finance Policy and Research at Leaseurope, the European Leasing Federation in Brussels. Jacqueline has also worked for Deloitte and Eurofinas in Brussels and was an assistant lecturer in Finance at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Jacqueline has a Masters in Finance and Accounting and holds a DEA (1st year PhD) from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management.

Jakob is Chief economist and Director General for Economic and Fiscal Policy and Global Economy at the German Federal Ministry of Finance in Germany. From 2014 to 2019, he served as Member of the European Parliament for Thuringia (Germany), both as a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Parliament's Delegation for the Relations with India. Previously, he worked - among others - at the Ministry for Economic Affairs of Thuringia, the Brussels-based think tank Bruegel, the World Bank and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs.

João has a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA as well as a degree in Economics and Master in Economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal.

João has been a professor of Economics at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa since 2008 and was Secretary of State for Budget between 2015 and 2020.
He was head of the Studies Office of the Ministry of Economy between 2010 and 2014 Advisor to the Deputy Minister for Industry and Development between 2009 and 2010.

João was president of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Economics at ISCTE between 2009 and 2010 and Director of the PhD in Economics (2011-2012). He was also a member of the Economic and Social Council and of the Statistical Council between 2010 and 2014 and a member of the Portuguese delegation to the OECD Economic Policy Committee in 2010 and 2012 and part of working groups within the OECD.

John is Chief Executive Officer of OMFIF, taking over on 1 January 2020. He chairs OMFIF’s executive committee and is a member of the OMFIF board.

Up to November 2019 John was a member of Euromoney’s management board, having started with the London stock market-quoted global information business in 1994. John oversaw all aspects of Euromoney’s £65m turnover finance and banking division, comprising Euromoney, the publishing and events business, GlobalCapital, the primary capital markets news, data and events service, and IMN, the New York-based securitisation and real estate events business. He presided over events and publications to mark Euromoney’s 50th anniversary, including the organisation’s celebratory dinner on 10 July 2019 at the London Hilton with 500 senior bankers and their teams.

John has a double honours degree in German language and European history from the University of East Anglia, where he studied under the tutorship of the writer W.G. Sebald.

Kalin is the Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Management Board of the ESM and EFSF. He is in charge of the Funding and Investor Relations division responsible for €300 billion of outstanding debt and the Investment and Treasury division investing the €80 billion ESM capital. Additionally, he is in charge of ALM & Financial Structuring overseeing the ESM and EFSF balance sheet.

Before taking on the CFO position, he was the Secretary General responsible for amongst others Corporate Governance, Shareholder relations, HR and Finance & Control, and IT & Operations running technology and facilities of the institution. He previously worked in strategy at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, corporate finance advisory at McKinsey & Company in the Netherlands and investment banking at JPMorgan in London. He held several political positions in the Netherlands.

Kalin studied MSc. Business Administration at the Rotterdam School of Management and Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. For his undergraduate degree, he studied Business Administration in Finance, Banking and Insurance at the Vrije University Amsterdam. He is a young global leader of the World Economic Forum.

Laurence is the OECD Chief Economist and G20 Finance Deputy. Previously, she was Chief Economist at AXA Group. She was on the board of Kering and remains a member of the Strategic committee of Agence France Trésor. She is a member of the Cercle des Economistes as well as of SDA Bocconi.

Prior to this, she was Special Advisor to the President of the French Republic; Chief Economist and MD at Bank of America Merrill Lynch; MD and Chief Economist, Barclays Capital; Economist, OECD; Economist, CEPII, France and Quantitative Analyst, Merrill Lynch Asset Management.

Leonardo has over 33 years of experience in Global Markets, spanning a variety of trading, coverage, sales and management roles in different jurisdictions. More recently, Global Head of Rates Sales in 2008–2010, then appointed Citi Country Officer and Head of Markets for Italy in January 2010 and in March 2012 he became Head of Investor Sales, EMEA Markets, with responsibility for the sales coverage and distribution of Citi’s global market product platform to Investor Clients across the EMEA region. He took on his current position as EMEA Head of Markets and Securities Services in March 2014, responsible for the overall strategy across the product platform of MSS jointly with the global products, and for the execution across the EMEA region, spanning over more than 40 countries.

Leonardo is a board member of Citigroup Global Markets Limited UK & CGME Board as well as a board member of AFME. Prior to joining Citi, he has collaborated with Bocconi University and was Associate at Borsa Italiana (Italian Stock Exchange). He has also held positions in Fixed Income trading at San Paolo Finance (Now Banca Intesa Group), as a Board Member of MTS, as Head of Sales and Distribution at Caboto (Banca Intesa Group) and at Banca Monte Paschi Siena as General Manager of Finance and Global Markets.

Leonardo took a degree cum laude in Business Administration, at Bocconi University Milan in 1987.

Leonique is Chief Executive Officer of BNY Mellon's European bank, The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

Prior to being named to this position in April 2018, she served as an Executive Board member of BNY Mellon’s European bank, Asset Servicing Business Head for Continental Europe as well as Country Executive for The Netherlands.

In August 2009 she assumed an additional role as Country Executive for The Netherlands and later that year accepted additional responsibilities as manager of The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV’s new Amsterdam branch. In June 2016, Leonique joined the board of BNY Mellon’s European bank as an Executive Board member.

Since the start of 2011, Leonique has been the Chair of the Foreign Bankers Association in The Netherlands and a board member of the Dutch Association for banks where she actively participates in discussions impacting the fund industry and the financial sector more broadly, providing vital industry perspective on challenges and opportunities.

Leonique is a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion within financial services. To this purpose, she sponsors and supports a number of BNYM’s corporate citizenship initiatives.

Mark works as the Deputy Head of Large Corporates & Institutions within Nordea.

Nordea Large Corporates & Institutions (LC&I) is the largest wholesale bank in the Nordic region and provides financial solutions to large Nordic and international corporate and institutional customers. The offering includes a diverse range of financing, cash management and payment services, investment banking, capital markets products and securities services.

In the role as Deputy Mark is directly responsible for Balance Sheet and Portfolio Management, LC&I operations, International Division and Management Oversight. Mark has worked in Nordea for 26 years and has been responsible for several positions hereunder as Group CFO and Treasurer.

An educational background as an economist from the University of Copenhagen and a Captain in the Danish Army.

Martin started his career at the French Treasury in the Department of International Monetary and Financial Affairs.

In 1997 he joined the Commission and since then has worked consistently across the various domains of Financial Services including positions in the Commissioner’s Cabinet, as Head of Unit coordinating Financial Services Policy and as Director of Financial Markets until his current position as Director, Banks, Insurance and Financial Crime.

Martin represents the Commission at the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, on the Board of Supervisors of both EBA and EIOPA, in the Financial Stability Board’s Resolution Steering Group and in the intergovernmental Financial Action Task Force (FATF/GAFI).

Michael previously spent 35 years with BNY Mellon, the last seven as Chairman, Europe, Middle East & Africa. In addition to his role at AFME, Michael is currently Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), a member and co-chair of the Wholesale Banking Group of the European Financial Services Chairman’s Advisory Council, a member of the Advisory Council and the Financial Services Skills Taskforce of TheCityUK, and member of FICC Markets Standards Board Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum Advisory Board and a Board and Executive Committee Member of the Global Financial Markets Association.

Michael is Trustee of the mental health charity, the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust and of education charity, Engage with China Ltd.

He was recently awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from Cass Business School.

Michala assumed the role of Societe Generale’s Group Chief Economist in September 2017 and leads a team of over 30 economists and sector engineer’s in her role as Head of Economic and Sector Research in the Risk Division. She is a member of Société Générale’s Group Management Committee and has been with the Group since 1994. She began her career with Den Danske Bank in 1986 and has worked in Copenhagen, Brussels, London and Paris.

With over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, she is a frequent commentator in the economic debate and has done extensive work on European integration, the long-term economic outlook, fair value of interest rates and pension savings. Michala holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and is a CFA charterholder. Michala is also Vice President of the SUERF (European Money and Finance Forum) Council of Management.

Pablo was appointed Director General of the Treasury and Financial Policy in February 2020.

His work involves, among other tasks, Spain’s financial sector regulation; devising and
executing the Kingdom of Spain’s funding programme; the promotion of the Spanish debt in
Spain and in roadshows abroad; the coordination of the capital markets presence of the
different public-sector issuers; the supervision of the Treasury’s cash position; and the
inspection and control of capital movements for the purposes of the fight against money
laundering and terrorism finance. He is also Chairman of the EFC’s Subcommittee on European
Sovereign Debt Management (ESDM) since August 2019, as well as a member of several
committees related with his different policy areas.

Before his promotion to Director General, Pablo was Head of Funding and Debt Management at
the Spanish Treasury since November 2013, a team he joined in September 2008. Before
joining the Spanish Treasury, he worked as an economist in the Bank of England's Financial
Crisis Management Department. Pablo is a member of the High Corps of State Economists and
Trade Experts, and he holds a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from
the University of Oxford, and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and
Political Science.

Pablo is Governor of the Banco de España and member of the Governing and General Council of the ECB. He is Chair of the BCBS and of the Advisory Technical Committee of the ESRB. He is member of various European and International Committees including the ESRB, the FSB, the BIS Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision, the Advisory Board of the FSI and the CEMLA. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Spanish Macroprudential Authority Financial Stability Board (AMCESFI).

Prior to his current position he was Director General for Economics, Statistics and Research of the Banco de España, headed its Economic Policy Analysis Division, worked as an adviser to the ECB’s Executive Board and as an Economist of the Banco de España.

He holds a PhD in Economics (Complutense University, Madrid), a degree in Economics and Business Studies (CUNEF) and a degree in Law (UNED).

He served as Prime Minister of Italy (2016- 2018), Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2014-2016), Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (2013-2014) and Minister of Communications (2006-2008).

Born in 1954, Gentiloni graduated in Political Sciences from La Sapienza, Rome.
His last book is “La sfida impopulista” (the (Un)populist challenge).

Prof. Dr. Joachim took office as a member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank on November 1, 2016. He is responsible for the Directorates General Banking and Financial Supervision, Information Technology and Risk Control.
Prior to taking on his current position, Joachim, who has a PhD in Law, held a variety of executive-level posts in the financial and insurance industries as well as in politics. From 2011 until his departure for the Bundesbank, Joachim was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Sparda-Banken in Frankfurt am Main. Prior to that, he was a member of the Executive Board of the German Insurance Association for around three years.
From 2005 to 2008, Joachim was State Secretary for European affairs at the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology, where he was also responsible for coordinating European policy matters. Prior to this, he was a member of the European Parliament (CSU) from 1999 to 2005.

Steven has been Executive Director of Supervision since 1 April 2021. Steven's remit includes supervision of banks, horizontal functions and integrity supervision, and legal services. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Before Steven joined DNB's Governing Board, he was Chair of the Management Board of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), from 2011-2021. Between 2004 and 2011 he was a member of the Executive Board of the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). Before that, he was a Professor of business economics (1994-2004) and Dean (2001-2004) at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University (1994-2004).

Steven graduated in business economics at the University of Groningen. He obtained his PhD in the same field at Maastricht University in 1991.

Stuart founded Autonomous Research, a specialist global financials research firm, in 2009. He was its CEO from 2009-2017, building a business with over 80 staff and revenues of $70mn.

Prior to founding Autonomous, Stuart was the head of European banks equity research at Merrill Lynch. He was the number 1 ranked European bank analyst for six consecutive years. Before joining Merrill Lynch in 2002, Stuart worked at JPMorgan and HSBC (both in banks equity research). He began his career at the Bank of England in 1988 in the banking supervision department.

Stuart holds an MA in modern history from Cambridge University.

Thalia is Global Head of Structuring. She serves as member of the Securities Division EMEA OpComm, the Structured Products Committee and the Sustainable Finance Steering Group. Thalia is also co-chair of the Structured Investment Products Committee.

She is an investment champion for Launch With GS, Goldman Sachs’ $500 million commitment to invest in companies and investment managers with diverse leadership. Thalia serves on the MIT Sloan Finance Group Advisory Board, the Westminster School Development Board and on the Board of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe on behalf of Goldman Sachs.

Thalia earned a PhD in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MSSc in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.

Thomas was the Brussels based President of the Euro Working Group and Chairman of the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee from 2012 to 2018. In this function he was responsible for the preparation of the negotiations and decisions of EU Finance Ministers. He was the G 7 Deputy for the Eurogroup and represented the Euro Working Group in a number of other international fora.

At present he is Non Resident Fellow at Bruegel, the Brussels Think Tank. He recently chaired the European Commission’s “High Level Forum on Capital Market Union”, and the European Council’s “High-Level Group of Wise Persons on the European financial architecture for Development” and is currently member of the French Government’s Commission on the future of Public Finances.

He has held a number of other international functions, such as that of Chair of the OECD Committee on Financial Markets and has published on a range of economic policy issues.

Vítor was Vice-President of the European Central Bank from 1 June 2010 to May 2018. In the Portuguese Government, he was Secretary of State for the Budget and Planning in 1974-76 and Finance Minister in 1977-78. At the central bank of Portugal, he was Director of the Economics Department, Deputy Governor and then from 2000 to 2010, Governor of the Banco de Portugal and consequently, member of the European Central Bank Governing Council.

He was Assistant Professor at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG), University of Lisbon, from 1968 to 1973 and later, coordinator Professor of the Master´s degree on Monetary Policy from 1989 to June 2010. He is now President of the School Board at ISEG and Professor at the Master's Degree in Banking and Financial Regulation at the School of Economics, University of Navarra, Madrid.
