Adam Farkas is the Chief Executive Officer of AFME. He joined the Association in February 2020 and is responsible for shaping its overall strategy. Adam was also appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA) in March 2022, coordinating industry views on key global regulatory issues. Adam also sits on the Board of TheCityUK, an industry-led body representing UK-based financial and related professional services.

Before joining AFME, Adam was the Executive Director of the European Banking Authority (EBA) from April 2011 until the end of January 2020 where he managed the organisation’s daily operations and led the implementation of its regulatory work programme. Between 2011 and 2019, he represented the EBA on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.

Prior to joining the EBA, he acted as the Executive Chairman of the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority from 2009 to 2010 where he spearheaded the Authority’s response to the financial crisis. His other previous positions include CEO for Allianz Bank from 2006 until 2009 and co-CEO of CIB Bank (Intesa Sanpaolo Group) between 2002 and 2005. Between 1997 and 2001, he was Managing Director and Member of the Board at the National Bank of Hungary. Adam started his career as an Assistant Professor at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences (subsequently renamed Corvinus University of Budapest). He was also a consultant to various financial institutions in Budapest and London, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) between 1991-1997. Adam holds a doctorate degree in Finance from the Budapest University of Economic Sciences, and a Master’s in computer-based simulation and modelling from Sunderland University in the UK.

Eric is Chief Executive Officer of Invest Europe, the association representing Europe’s private equity, venture capital and infrastructure sectors and their investors.

Eric joined Invest Europe after a career spanning three decades in leading private equity firms. He was previously CEO of Gimv France, a division of the Brussels-listed mid-market investment firm, where he oversaw strategy and investments in the French market. Prior to that, he was co-founder and co-managing partner of Edmond de Rothschild Capital Partners. He started his private equity career in 1990 at Astorg - where he subsequently became a co-founding partner of Astorg Partners.

He holds a Master in Management from ESCP Business School in Paris.

Florence leads the Brussels based EuropeanIssuers’ team with strategic and operational know-how from her work at the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA), where she was responsible for the management of relations with the European Commission and other European institutions and organisations, as well as media communication and the organisation of events. Previously, she worked in the Brussels office of Mapfre Re on the liability portfolio management and treaty analysis. She holds a degree in law, an executive MBA from Louvain School of Management and a post-graduate degree in law and economics from ULB as well as a certificate in risk management and a Director Effectiveness certificate from Guberna. She is also past president of ESAE (European Society of Association Executives) and Vice president of the FAIB (Federation of International Associations in Belgium)

Julio is AFME’s Research Director and leads on the production of AFME’s quarterly data reports on European capital markets and the annual Capital Markets Union (CMU) Key Performance Indicators report.

He has also written several key analytical reports including on Insolvency Reform and Capital Markets in Central and Eastern Europe. More broadly, he is also engaged in AFME’s work on CMU matters and is a member of ESMA’s Group of Economic Advisers.

Prior to joining AFME, Julio was Senior Economist at BBVA, leading macroeconomic and financial sector analysis. Julio has a BSc in Economics, BEng in Industrial Engineering and a MSc in Economics from Los Andes University in Colombia as well as a Master in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Pablo is a Managing Director in AFME’s Public Policy and Advocacy Division. His main focus is market analysis and regulatory development across Europe on securities markets, banking and sustainable finance, having led AFME’s advocacy work in various regulatory debates and cross-cutting projects. Pablo is responsible for AFME’s work on the Capital Markets Union project. He is a Member of the Board of the European Capital Markets Institute.

Prior to joining AFME, he was engaged with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, where he worked on financial reporting, auditing and financial sector issues. His experience includes roles in European organisations and the United Nations. He holds a BSc Econ (first class) from the University of Wales and a Masters Degree (with distinction) from the London School of Economics.

Rainer is Director General of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) and an independent advisor to exchanges and financial services companies with more than 30 years of experience in the global exchange industry. He is also Vice Chair of the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG) which provides ESMA with opinions and advice on its policy work.

For many years, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and was responsible for the cash market business of Deutsche Börse. During his career at Deutsche Börse, he created and managed markets, drove changes in European corporate governance and accounting practice, financial market regulation and market player supervision.

He is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the English Theatre Frankfurt and several charitable organisations. He holds a Master in Economics from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and an MBA from the University of Miami (Fulbright Scholar).

Tanguy became the head of EFAMA in 2018, where he leads in the formulation of industry positions on policy developments and engages with EU and international authorities. He is a member of ESMA’s Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group, chairs FinDatEx’s Steering Group and teaches 'Business interest representation in the EU’ at the College of Europe in Bruges. Tanguy is also a member of the IIFA Board and sits on the Administrative Committee of the European Parliamentary Financial Services Forum.

He was Head of the Brussels office of AFME (European investment banking industry, 2015-2018), Director General of Leaseurope and Eurofinas (European leasing and consumer credit industries, 2006-2015), and Head of Banking Supervision and Capital Markets at the EBF (2001-2006).

He holds a degree in law from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (BE), a diploma in Political Sciences & International Relations and a certificate of specialised studies (DES) in Financial Risks Management.
